Finally back to some stitching

Look at what has finally resurfaced! Yes I am attempting a bit of a rotation and here is Cirque des Cercles. It has not been around much lately but now that I am back at it I am enjoying it. It is Eggplant Waterlilies on 36 ct linen. Here is my completed Lizzie Kate Merry Christmas by the letter, including buttons although you probably cannot see the buttons on the pic. It was fun to stitch. DMC thread on Natural 32 ct linen.

And page 7 of Jeannette Douglas' My Stitching Album. This page is really cool with all those Rhodes stitches in different shapes and sizes. My choice of colours ... waterlilies, a skien of WDW, and the rest are mostly Carrie's Creations and one GAST on 32 ct black lugana.

Here are the two bibs that I made for my brother and sister-in-law for when their first grandchild, who won't even be born until May, comes to their house to visit. I think that they are a little excited about the addition to the family!
"If you think I'm cute...you should see my grandma" and "I got my good looks from my grandpa" Yes we are a somewhat vain family!

Here is my progress on Kaleidoscope. I am looking forward to starting the colour!
And last but not least here is my progress as of last Friday on Pretty Pumpkins (Glendon Place) . I did not get much done the previous week but made up for it this time around. I think I prefer stitching on the bright orange pumpkin parts more than the duller green leaves.
I worked today on backstitching "Its good to be Queen" and her throne is assuming some definition.
This week we start on the big Cirque des Cercles/ Paradigm Lost SAL. That one is going to be fun..and will take up Wednesday's stitching time...with PP on Fridays. Maybe I should just assign days to the rest of my works in progress as well!

I had a very pleasant vist with Jeannette Douglas at the Creative Festival in Toronto on Sunday. Other than seeing her I was a little disappointed with the amount of cross stitch at the show. But if you were a quilter, scrapbooker, rubber stamper or in the market for a sewing machine or a huge sewing machine quilting thing, I suppose you would have enjoyed yourself.

Dan took me out for lunch later and that was fun. We went to the Old Spaghetti Factory which we had not visitied in about 17 or 18 years!

These works in progress pictures are not in the order that I wanted them but oh well...here they are...
On the weekend I finished a little house on my friend Marg's round robin. However Marg doesn't want to see her RR until it has made the rounds so I did not take a picture. I did think though that since I had a finish that I was entitled to a new start so I pulled out Kaleidoscope by Ink Circles and here is my progress so far. While visiting with Joyce yesterday morning I dutifully stitched on It's good to be Queen and I am pleased to note that she now is wearing the skirt to her dress.
If you have quessed that my interest in the Queen is waning, you are correct. This is my new favourite work in progress... Pretty Pumpkins by Glendon Place. It only sees the light of day on Fridays. It is a joy to stitch, even over one...and the colours are fun!

More WIPs

Here is little Molly with part of a cat and most of a fun looking bird. She is moving along but I think I am tiring of the black and gray and will move on to another WIP for awhile. This Maureen Appleton kit hasn't seen the light of day for a few months but I doubt that I am in the mood for 29 count over one stitching to-day.
This little piece is actually finished. It was a round robin that we did within our stitching group, before we became the Thursday stitchers. I dug it out the other day and finished it by adding the names of those who contributed to it around the outside. Now I will be on the look out for some colourful Christmas fabric to use to convert it into a pillow.
And by no means my last WIP...just the last picture for to-day...Mary Engelbriet's "Its good to be Queen". I last worked on it in April and may just be ready to pick it up again now!

Thursday stitchers

Okay so I haven't quite mastered the art of putting pictures on my blog in an organized manner.
Anyway, the 4 Celtic Banners pictured were the inspiration for the 3 banners pictured to the left. The 4 belong to Dani, Christin, Carmen and Colleen (not necessarily in that order) and were here for all to admire at last August's little retreat we hold here at my place.
The three banners are being held by Beatrice, Kathy and Barb and are almost finished after a 30 week stitch along.







This next lot of smiling faces belong to some of the Thursday stitchers and don't they do great work? Adriana is on the left holding up a fairy she is stitching from a recent magazine. Olive is holding up a blank hoop because I caught her on a day when she was just about to begin a new project. Judie is displaying her Sitchworks piece called Good Night Sleep Tight, affectionately known as Cows in Blankets.

Here is progress on Epiphyllum #2. I am very encouraged by how it is coming along and I actually think I have the hardest portions finished. All that remains is another yellow/orange flower and another large leaf. The main flower was the most challenging since it contains a myriad of soft colours which did not seem like anything except tiny blobs of colour ... that is until you step back and see the big picture. Marc is an amazing designer.

There are more Thursday stitchers but we had only a small turnout this past week. I will take pics of the others and their projects as the weeks progress.
