A Stitching request

My good friend of mine,  Sharon Craven,  received a request from someone she knows for cross-stitched or embroidered quilt blocks. I will copy the request as Sharon gave it me and encourage anyone  to stitch a square in support of this cause.

I have already started my square and I will post a picture  in my next post.

A request has been made for embroidered  or cross stitch  9" X 9"  squares on white fabric and the stitched area not to exceed 8" X 8" on the surface. These squares will be made into  quilts for our 3 fallen Mounties' widows, their children and the 2 Mounties that survived the shooting as well as one for the detachment.

A friend of mine is married to a retired RCMP officer and her daughter and son-in-law are with the RCMP. Her daughter asked her mom to collect as many squares as she can. She came to me (Sharon)  for help. So if anyone would like to donate a completed square  that would be awesome. I would need them  in my hands by  Thursday Sept 4th.
They are hoping to complete 12 quilts.
There are 3 widows.
4 girls ages, 9, 8, 4 and one they are not sure of
2 boys ages 1 1/2 and not born yet
2 wounded officers
and one quilt for the detachment to hang on their wall.

You can put anything on these quilt squares. They are asking that you put your name on the square as well as the town or city you live in.
If you would like to take part, let me know

You are  also welcome to drop completed blocks off at Knowledge and Needles. Sharon lives nearby and I will see that they are delivered to her.

Thanks everyone...

Also I made a mistake in my last post. The title of the TW, correctly identified by Kathy, Marilyn, Beth and Anita is Father Winter  aka, in a book,  Woodland Celebration. In my delight at giving away thread, I  wrote the incorrect title down....doesn't take much to rattle me.

Winners and other news

First of all I have had a much better response once the  hint was given...so Kathy, Marilyn, Anita, Beth and Bonnie  will be getting some  GAST limited edition threads for correctly identifying Father Christmas  or Woodland Creatures as the TW chart I am currently stitching.

On to other news...Dani posted this picture on Facebook and it garnered quite a bit of interest.
We searched in vain to find a source for this T shirt  so Dan contacted a place locally who has agreed to print some up for Knowledge and Needles.
They will be  Yellow with Green printing (K & N) colours and also so I am not directly copying someone else's idea, even though I couldn't find the original anywhere.
Anyway, they will come in L, XL and XXL and will sell for $15.00 plus shipping.
Let me know if you are interested. I will post a picture in those colours as soon as I get  one.

A Hint

You have to love it when all the sides meet the way they  are supposed to.
So, only Bonnie has responded and yes of course Bonnie, you may submit your guess to my email.
For the rest of you if I gave a clue would it help? I actually have lots of the giveaway GAST limited edition thread. Balych@kos.net
So the hint Is... It's a TW
OK so I do not expect you to know...Mari Jayne or Heather, since you don't stitch but surely there are a few stitchy people put there who may read this who would know or at least look it up And who may want some thread.
And here is our Macy relaxing but ,although she may not appear so, always vigilant for squirrels in the yard.

A very pleasant weekend

Here I am being Edith Ann in the Big Chair. It is very high up and affords a beautiful view of Georgian Bay. Of course Bonnie had my iPad taking this photo so I did not take one of the water. You will have to take my word for it!

This little beauty is Lulu, Smitty and Sheila's sweet new puppy. Molly is still there too.

And this is my latest start. I tried to work on my Mystic Stitch chart but I soon lost interest in changing thread every 5 stitches or so. If you want to email me the name of this newest start, I will send you some skeins of  GAST limited edition threads. If too many people respond I'll have to draw a winner but I really think there are not that many of you who read this so everyone with the correct answer will likely win.   Balych@kos.net is the email

Here it is Maria!

I decided not to frustrate myself looking for  a photo of this Twisted Band Sampler (Northern Expressions) on the computer so I took another one with my ipad and  here it is.
It was fun to work on  and a good refresher course on many of the specialty stitches featured in it.

Woneta

Woneta has been back stitched, initialed, dated, buttoned, ironed and has had a nose surgically attached.
Next step is to vist Judy at About Framing and find a suitably wild coloured frame for her.
I am grateful that I did not pine for a career as a plastic surgeon because it took three attempts  to get her nose on right!

Macy

Here are Dan and Macy relaxing. Dan was watching TV and Macy is just enjoying a belly rub.
This is Woneta, designed by Amy Breucken.  I will post another photo of her maybe as soon as tomorrow when she is all back stitched and has her nose and buttons attached.Even without a nose she is kind of cute.
